I was hoping to do another blog entry about the Hawaii travel the soonest possible time but then I got too caught up doing other, err, more important things during the [school] break. I should be packing my bags now because I am going back to my town but then I came across the photos taken in Maui.
Yay. I know I owe this blog post to the best friend//
12 hours of stay. So here goes the second story.
On the second day, we woke up at three in the morning (Yes, I, myself, can’t still believe I did) for an adventure in the top of the world, jk.
Together with Manang Aiko, Manong Harold and Mel, we went to Haleakala. (Lol, I hope I got it right). We (Jarica and I) thought that it’s okay to wear just the jackets we have not knowing that it was ice-cold up there.
If there is worse than my first Ferris wheel ride, it was the whirlwind road trip going up. But I survived. Good thing I am traveling two times a month from and to Baguio that I (minimally) minded the zigzag roads and coldness at 3A.M.
I can’t find a word to describe how cold up there. It’s, uh, as if you are inside a freezer in the lowest possible degree of temperature.

So, sorry not to have mentioned earlier, but our primary goal of going up there and enduring the coldness was to witness the sunrise.
And, failed. HAHA!
We may not saw how beautiful it could get but the place is just so amazingly breathtaking.
What to know: Hawaii has three mountains taller that Mt. Everest.
(Disclaimer: I just saw this on the cards posted inside the store there).
1. Mt. Everest is approximately 29, 000 feet tall from its base.
2. Hawaii’s tallest mountains are measured from the Pacific Ocean floor which is the top of the Pacific Plate.
3. there is approximately 19,000 feet of water from the ocean floor up to sea level
4. Therefore, Haleakala (10, 023 ft), Mauna Loa (13, 679 ft), and Mauna Kea (13, 796 ft) are taller that mt. Everest when measured from their base.
Awesome, too, because we were with the people so accommodating and kind that we can never thank them enough until now.
One of the many memories worth treasuring, indeed.
NEXT TIME LONGER, Maui. ❤
Wait for us. We’ll gonna explore what you still has to offer, Maui. Next time longer.
